Thirty Episodes Later
I first uttered the words “Hello and welcome to Prime Lenses” in March this year. I’d hoped to get 10 listeners and record 10 episodes. A very achievable goal. Then Julien Pasternak made me promise to record at least 20, a number which seemed to take forever to reach. That was 10 weeks ago and now it feels as though we’ll be at 52 in no time!
I love making this thing and have had feedback from many listeners and newsletter subscribers that they enjoy it too so I’ve started to think about how to keep it going.
The website, newsletter add-on and kit to record upcoming in person interviews have cost me about $300 this year so I’m launching a Patreon to cover ongoing costs. I’m not looking to turn some side project into a career, I just want to break even. The aim is to be super transparent with you all on how any donations are adding up and being spent. If there’s any left over then I’ll invest that back into the podcast. Travel for interviews is the most likely avenue given that I already have a laptop, mic, an internet connection and a webcam 😄 all the key ingredients for a podcast empire in 2024.
There are two tiers, the second of which includes the chance to be featured on an episode providing you’re brave enough to answer my Focus Points. A series of questions designed to reveal the type of photographer you truly are to your fellow listeners and maybe prompt a little conversation along the way. These will be included in future episodes and featured on the YouTube channel where I’m gradually uploading previous episodes.
If you’re not in a position to support the show financially then please continue to enjoy it, tell a friend, send me an email, it’s all good.
Thanks for listening and reaching out. It really means the world to me. Here’s to episode 52 and beyond!
